Darkhorse Ethos

A Roadmap to the Betterment of Others

I’ve spent my life at war— not only confronting enemies on the battlefield, but pursuing what it means to lead with integrity. Through hardship, sacrifice, and trust in my team, I’ve forged a leadership philosophy rooted in action, purpose, and humility. The Darkhorse Ethos is that philosophy—a call to rise for others, lead with intent, and ensure our sacrifices are never diminished by comfort, complacency, or inaction.

Empathy

Allows us to see another’s dream as our own—and helps them find the path to it. Every person has the inalienable right to define their pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness, so long as it never comes at the cost of someone else’s. We must lead others until they learn what it means to lead for themselves.

Conviction

Not just dedication to the outcome, but commitment to each step. We can go furthest when we have a foundation of habits. We are not born with these; we must learn them through repetition and commitment. Know your end goal, but learn to love the struggles it will take to achieve it.

Adaptability

Effective leadership requires accountability—it evolves through cycles of trial, error, feedback, vulnerability, and refinement. Sometimes we will learn the right way to lead by encountering others who show us how not to be.

Selflessness

Mission first; team always. The true test of strength is how we carry others. Cooperation, compassion, and consideration are not soft traits; they are the hallmarks of the strongest among us.

Empowerment

Knowledge is worthless unless it’s passed on. Strength does not come from being the smartest person in the room; it comes from sharing our knowledge when we have no ability for personal gain.

Look at a man the way he is, and he only becomes worse,

But look at him as if he were what he could be, and he becomes what he should be.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
